Bedham Church is nestled away in woodland near the hamlet of Bedham near Petworth, West Sussex. I've visited this place once before and had to go back to show a couple of my exploring buddies! It's situated on public land so is easy to access and have a little nosey. However the road up to it is very narrow with very few parking and passing places, so it's easier to park up near the hamlet and walk up the hill to it. It's quite visible from the road.

History: The church was built in 1880 to serve as a place of worship and a school for the children living in the isolated community of Bedham. During the week the children would learn to read and write in the space, with seniors and infants divided by a curtain. On Sundays the desks were turned to face East and services were held. It remained in use as a place of worship until 1959, after then it was abandoned and it fell into disrepair. Since then it's gradually become the ruin it is now.

The place has a strange feeling to it. The whole time we were there we felt like we were being watched. It's eerily quiet. The fact the weather that day was bleak and a bit overcast probably didn't help! But if you're in the area this little gem is worth a mooch around.

Was here Sunday, really nice. Drive in was a pain due to a sodding peacock that wouldn't shift off the road.
