Not the oldest abandoned building but interesting non the less.
The history:
Blenheim Care Centres is a nursing and residential care home for up to 80 people in two buildings – Blenheim House and Blenheim Lodge.
The home consistent of 35 bedrooms and some flats. It caters for people aged 18 and above and who have physical disabilities and/or neurological conditions.
The lodge was closed on the day of the unannounced inspection by CQC, which took place on March 14 2018
On the day of that inspection 19 people were living at the home, with 10 of those people receiving nursing care.
Among the things highlighted by CQC was an empty room where there was bird seed and feathers. No deep clean had been completed and the room smelt strongly of urine, while there were also flies in the room.
The Exploration:
The building seems very new and modern due to the fact it was only closed the year before.
the rooms feel very empty and in most case not very interesting. what adds feeling to this exploration is the copious amounts of personal information left behind (which is shocking and a huge insult to those included within the documents). the majority of the content of the care home has been removed with just a few bits remaining (mainly the paper work)
it's sad to see old wedding photos and residents keepsakes left to rot and be forgotten. also the image showing the stacks of paper work in boxes... the three boxes full of documents contain nothing but death records.
