We saw this place pop up on here and had to have a look as it's not that far from us.
Designed and built by architect by Roger Booth in 1968 in the brutalist style this police station opened for use on 19 February 1971. It was the third Blackpool police station and Divisional Headquarters, the building wasn’t officially opened until 21 April 1976, when the Duke of Gloucester did the honours. The same design was used at police stations in Skelmersdale, Morecambe, St. Helens, Preston, Blackpool, Wigan and Chorley. Skelmersdale, Chorley and Wigan still remain standing although Wigan police station is now a premier Inn.
Access to this place was a bit of a climb but not that difficult. The only bits we really bothered with were the cells and the rooftop. The rest of the place is basically stripped empty offices.
