So whilst spending time with my fiancee in California I had to satisfy the exploring itch. I figure with California being so massive that there had to be some good places to explore, and it turns out that I was right!
Boron came up in my searches and looked quite interesting. It sits around 70 miles north of San Bernardino on the 395 freeway, about 6 miles north of Kramer junction in the high desert.
The site was last used as a minimum security prison and the site was abandoned in 2000. At it's peak the site housed 540 male inmates. The inmates assembled parts for military vehicles and they also rebuilt fork lift trucks for the army.
The site is still in use as a Federal Aviation Administration flight tracking radar station but otherwise completely abandoned. It had a very Fallout 4 vibe to it.
The view from the edge of the area where the prison staff most likely lived looking toward the cell blocks.
A view of the radar tower from the old prison workers town.
The view from someones kitchen window showing the high desert stretching off into the distance.
Another home in the staff living area.
A view of the small town for prison staff.
Bourgeoisie house that had a satellite dish.
I think Cletus got carried away with a sledgehammer.
Side corridor of the vehicular component factory.
Self explanatory really.
Inside the vehicular component factory.
A view of the cell blocks / dormitories
Cell Block 103?
The view from a cell block window.
Cell blocks.
Front view of a cell block.
Rear view of a cell block

A mural of the only way to escape the prison
Cell blocks off in the distance.
