There are 2 mills directly next to each other here, Both explorable and both worthy of a look, Borough and castle mills.

we explored borough as the access was a little more "obvious" and we only had time to do 1 of the pair!!

info on the net is sketchy, but it is listed in the 1891 graces guide as having 64,872 spindles, 16/421 twist. with the manager called Miles Crompton and the secretary as a S. Potter.

more recently it has been used as a multilet business center for all sorts of firms including a building firm, a courier, a warehousing outfit and the oldham NDC (new deal for communities) covering hathershaw and fitton hill areas of the town.

borough is this mill here :- http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=53.529328&lon=-2.114038&z=18.4&r=0&src=msl
