Davidson Mugiemoss Mill was founded in 1796 closed in June 2005

Charles Davidson set up in business on his own account in 1811 by leasing land at Mugiemoss for a period of 57 years for £18 per annum.
The mills erected at Mugiemoss fulled woollen cloth, beat flax and ground fermented tobacco leaf into snuff.
Papermaking came later, probably beginning in 1821, and this quickly overtook the other activities.
By 1833, the lease at Mugiemoss described Charles Davidson simply as a papermaker.

The site consists of two large warehouses containing Machne number 4 and Machine number 5. Sadly machine number 5 has been totally stripped out.

What's left of 5

As you can see, all the power works, even the cranes.
There is still a lot of action going on, I drove past it yesterday and noticed a couple of lorries inside.
I guess they are stripping out the rest and being shipped to ukraine
[as security told me on one of my many recce's!]

Finally, Mill Workers in 1919 and when it closed in 2005!
