Bramcote Secondary school

Opened in 1948 as an all boys school, later re purposed as a hospital during WW2

the school became a specialist sports college, and later an academy in 2012, however the school was abandoned in 2017 after teaching was moved to the Bramcote sixth form campus

in 2021 a fire broke out at the school which took many days to be fully extinguished. the cause is not yet known/released. however arson is more likely than not. many buildings were burned completely, with the metal roof trusses sagging and bending under in the intense heat, causing the roof to cave in across large areas.

not all buildings were burnt, the sports hall went unscathed with much of the gym equipment still remaining including ropes and climbing frames.

on an interesting side note, the flooring in the sports hall is made from patterned wooden rectangles/bricks as is common with sports halls, however due to exposure to the elements, the wood has absorbed moisture and expanded, creating ridges in the flooring.

the whole school is in ruin, molten electrical equipment, wiring and instillation hang from the ceiling, anything plastic has melted.

there are a number of cupboards packed full with school textbooks, copies of 1984, animal farm, Jane Eyre, great expectations and language study books, spilling out in to the corridor

there is a service tunnel 1m high underneath the main corridors of the school, however this has asbestos warnings so not recommended

the whole place is like walking around a Call of duty nazi zombies map.

interesting explore, scary to see first hand the effects of a fire, deforming steel frames and leaving everything blackened and charred.
