A forthcoming BBC Inside Out programme will be featuring a look at the Brantham Factory site and it's significance in the history of plastic. The programme details state:

"It's hard to imagine a world without plastic. And it's said that a factory in Suffolk put plastic in every home in the country. When it was built at Brantham near Manningtree, the factory was home to The British Xylonite Company, one of the first plastic manufacturers in the world. Recently most of the factory was demolished but its legacy will be with us forever. Inside Out tells the story of this pioneering factory and why it was built in the beautiful Suffolk countryside."

The film has been made as a 'history story' so will not feature any of the discussions about the proposed development on the site, but it will no doubt be interesting to watch nevertheless. The programme will be shown on Monday 7 October at 7.30pm on BBC 1
