hi all
Walked the workings today, other than a few open pits I couldn't see any ways in. Could anyone offer any information on access adits? Thanks
Rob

This place is managed by Cave access Ltd and all of the adits and directions etc are listed on their PDF http://rakelane.anduin.org.uk/cal/bryneglwys.pdf but it looks like a wetsuit or SRT trip, if you have insurance from BCA or via a club they would probably give you a good idea of kit required.
If you are considering getting underground regular it is worth the 20 quid to get insurance, then you can then get key or gate codes to all of the Cave access Ltd sites.

You will need harness with chest and /hand/foot ascender to get back out! like above get some public liability insurance and you will be able to obtain keys to access the gated mines. Recommend an SRT training course if not familiar with frogging up a rope as its much more difficult than it looks, technique over strength and stamina...

Many mines in wales which aren't gated and don't need SRT to get around most of the workings, slate mine scales in wales are incredible, some are like something out of jurassic park with internal open top caverns lost from the outside world. Well worth a long weekend around snowdonia national park.
