Hope this is of interest to some and sorry if it's old news. I've noticed that there are a few old pubs in Burnley that look fairly accessible especially after recent high winds. The Plane Tree at the bottom of Westgate has been empty for years now and is very much derelict much of the boarding around the back has now fallen off, the Adelphi and Reindeer opposite Central Railway station have both been empty since the late 90's, about a year ago one of the boards on the door of the Adelphi had been torn off and I had a look in the old back room which still had some furniture in place and looked in surprisingly good condition inside, again much of the rear boarding has fallen off leaving the places insecure. The old Mitre pub at the junction of Trafalgar Street and Westgate has been empty for well over a decade and continues to rot, it's up for sale through the council, again the boards have become insecure at the rear after recent high winds. The old Pentridge Cinema and latterly Circulation Club on Holmes Street ( the one that runs between Todmorden Road and Oxford Road) has unboarded empty windows on one side, I think it's been closed for over a decade now. I've often wondered what the Old Studios 123 cinema in the market square looks like now, I believe everything is still in sittu and I know that the council CCTV department is in one part of the old cinema, I was told that the place is knee deep in pigeon sh*t but nothing else known, it's been closed since about 1983, I can still remember the old layout from the last time I saw a film there before it closed.

Further to my initial post, time has finally run out for the Adelphi and the Reindeer pubs on Railway Street opposite Burnley Central station. Demolition work has commenced on the Reindeer and presumably the Adelphi will follow. Presumably the ornate name brick and brewery carvings will be consigned to rubble (I have contacted the council regarding this), sadly now demolition has begun one of the window boards has slipped to reveal fine old leaded windows, presumably with the usual staining at the bottom showing which room that would have been (snug, smoke, vault etc.) Similarly on the Adelphi you can see the old windows where the boards have slipped or rotted as well as being able to see into the back room. I would imagine the Reindeer will be gone this week and the Adelphi will follow next....

What a shame you need to get some photos of the buildings before they go for ever, I've noticed these pub buildings myself whilst shopping about in Burnley

Been up there tonight, Reindeer on it's way down, floors out and roof off. Managed to get some pictures of both including a few of the interior of the Adelphi which is a mess.

I know the two pubs were great looking ones, i would be interested in looking at the other ones as time is running out for a few buildings around Burnley i think.
