Visited this place one evening with the usual two friends. A nice relaxed wander around here and quite nice. With two virtually identical court rooms. A cell block down below, but the cells were tight and pitch black and really hard to get shots off. And time was pushing on.
After the original shire hall was knocked down in the town a new one was built to replace it. The shire hall was attached to a house called St Margaret's and built in 1906 to 1907. The courts were also incorporated in the shire hall. The council took over the St Margarets house part in 1932 and they used it as offices till 1910 when it was sold and concerted to residential use. A new shire hall was constructed in 1960 as part of a civic scheme. This now incorporated the records office and a police station. The courts continued in use in the old shire hall till 2016 when it was deemed no longer viable and closed. It was given grade two listing in 2018 to stop it getting butchered.

Very pretty. The cornice ceilings are cool. Lovely stained glass along with lots of wood panelling. Very clean. Nice back cat there. Surprised it stayed so clean for the 3 yrs before explore. You didn't disappoint with your toilet shot either. Really clean one for your collection. :thumb

Im surprised to see only one green corridor. After working HMPs I asked why a lot of courts had green walls, crown courts that is, the answer was they thought green was a calming colour!! So what colour are prison walls, grey lol

Yeah it was very clean throughout. It was a very clean toilet. You want to see the one I got Sunday, in total contrast to this toilet ha ha.
Thank you for the info about the green corridors, never realised that's why they painted them green. Strange they paint the cells grey though :D
