Report - Buxton Lime Works - 17/11/18

Just on the edge of buxton, overlooking the main road. I’ve driven past what must be hundreds of times but I’d never actually been up until today. I parked in a layby and walked about 100 yards to a gate and the first building. This one is currently claimed I think, there was a tent and a lot of rubbish

Even though the place is literally on top of the A6 it is super peaceful up there. Walking up a bit further reveals what is usually lost in the woodlands when looking up from the road.

I was surprised at how much open space there was above the works itself, the last picture is one of the sides in the open space but I was exploring solo at this point and it didn’t look too inviting. Overall a beautiful place to visit, especially at this time of year with all the colorful leaves. Definitely worth an hour or two of your time if you happen to be passing! Thanks for looking

Nice to see this again was one of my first explores. Popped back a few months ago & yes it seemed like someone was living in the first building, there was box full of new tins of food, but no sign of anyone there!

Love this place. Industrial heritage with a real nature vibe. Shame they illegally demoed the best bit....the neo-commumist-egyptian style admin block. Good work!
