They said a new business from the current owners will be occupying the building. You might get away with a permission visit but nothing else

Fucking pair of morons shouldn't be allowed within 50 miles of the place, hopefully they'll be barred from being directors for failing so dismally.

Apparently they will redevelop it into a "village"... if that ever happens it will take a long time, so you could get some visits in.

They're the ones. This is a problem we've spoken about between ourselves for a while. When a brewery or other artisan type business is run to make a profit for shareholders, or in this case, the brothers, with no industry knowledge, heritage or concern, then the writings on the wall from day one. In a business, making money is just one of many responsibilities; outside investors or speculators don't really care for this and just want growth and profit at any cost including closure and disposal if they don't want to invest any more.

I'm fairly sure Cains used to brew for Tesco.

Yep, totally agree!

On a more positive note, we recently returned a customer's car following restoration. He owns a family business in Chesterfield and also has financial fingers in a couple of other pies, one of which is Brampton's brewery in chesterfield. He sent us on our way with a crate of their produce, and I now have another two beers to add to my favourites list!

Bramptons 1803 and Bramptons Speciale

Both lovely beers!

Don't think this is a brewery in danger of closing for financial reasons!!

they did brew for tesco, there cheapo bitter was cains bitter. they also canned for stella artois at xmas with a 10 percent syrup and watered it to percent and also wine kids drink was also canned at xmas. i explored this extensively back in the mid 2000s as i worked there. there are a maze of tunnels from the lower brew store as you go in past brewery tap pub first left.

and even more huge array of tunnels beyond. i was told there are tunnels used to bring slaves from the mersey to shore off the ships. Its a very old site and yes i did get into the tower. The security cams are hard drive and veiwable on the internet. but only the post off ice site and bonded stores are belled up. the tunnels and entrance are not on camera as they are not used since bobded store is used now. infact all the areas not secured or on camera are the places worth exploring. And i think if you ask nicely the security would be more than willing to let someone go on rounds with them ( unofficially as the site closes at 10pm till 6am. ) also they used to run a tour for 5 pounds which went near a few good spots, you got 2 pints of ale and butties for that so always got moneys worth.

access when shut down or closed for business is not worth it as it has some sturdy doors and no ways in. but i would approach the security or even the brothers, they are approachable. and i must admit, they did try and keep it open and kept the men in jobs a little longer. give either option a go but security walkalong is definatley a good option.
