History:

Opened and established in 1983 however closed to the public in 2012.

Camelot Theme Park was originally inspired by the legend of King Arthur and featured medieval-themed attractions and roller coasters such as Caterpillar Capers, Junior Dragon Coaster, Dragon Flyer, Excalibur, and Knightmare (Knightmare rollercoaster tracks demolished February 2020)

On 22 October 2001, Harry Mathews, a park employee, was struck by The Gauntlet roller coaster and was killed whilst repairing the tracks. The park was fined £40,000, and charged £20,000 in costs in September 2003, as it had no written safety procedures for its staff.

In 2004, a young boy was hit and killed by a bus in the Camelot parking lot. Finally, on 23 August 2011, a twelve-year-old boy fell 30 ft from the Excalibur 2 ride. He survived but suffered serious injuries.

This site is quite known in the urbex community however was worth an explore for myself. Access was relatively easy and a discrete entry point was achieved allowing us to avoid the main entrance where a security guard was placed. Priory to exploring a chap had died after attempting to climb the large rollercoaster whilst exploring meaning that there was a heightened security presence on the site and based around the rollercoaster.
