Care Shangton was a village complex which has provided homes and activities for people with Learning Disabilities and Moderate Mental Health Conditions for more than 35 years. It focused on independence by providing occupations in Catering and Horticulture.

The company also owned a Tea Room and market stall in Market Harborough where they would sell plants, bouquets of flowers, cakes and scones which had been made by residents to raise money for holidays and day trips.

The Village provided a service to 53 people with more on a waiting list, it was made up of several houses specially designed for 2-4 people and a more traditional 14 bed unit filled with corridors. It was announced in 2007 that CARE Shangton was to close, luckily it was saved and continued to provide a service until a further announcement in 2013. With movement of people into new accommodation the closure wasn't complete until October 2015.

In Summer of 2015 the site was sold for £1,709,844 with planning permission for new housing.
