History

So as for the history i cant actually find much, but what i have found is as followed...
Carnival Pool opened sometime Back in 1992 with 3 pools, the 1st A main/General pool the 2nd A Leisure Pool And the 3rd A learner/teaching/Training pool

with a gym later add on and opening in 2000. It was built to replace the nearby aging open air Martins Pool which closed the same year.
when the new centre opened, Wokingham District Council (as it then was) held a time captule competition with The Wokingham Times.

Time captule Winners John & Sue english put in stamps, newspapers, coins, photos of their family at the time and a cassette tape recording of their family – all talking about the potential future.
The time captule which is not due to be opened for another 73 years was hidden behind a brick at the entrance to the pool & will take pride of place in the new Carnival leisure centre.
The family won £100 for their troubles , as well as a place in Wokingham's history books.

Closure

Wokingham borough council announced in March 2020 that the centre would close in May to allow work to start on the new Carnival complex featuring a new larger leisure centre and library. However because the centre was already closed due to the Corona Virus lockdown the plans were brought forward with demolition to start on 20th april 2020.

The Explore

I had never even heard of Carnival Pool before even though its fairly to me.
But 1 day it just randomly came up in my news feed on my phone about the upcoming clousure, so once lockdown restrictions were eased i decided to head down there for a mooch.
As i arrived i saw the site was surrounded by heras fencing but no sign of any bulldoszrs yet.
I had a brief look around but sadly couldnt find a way in so left it and decided to come back the following weekend for an earlier visit.
This time gone was the hears fencing which was replaced with some nice tall hoarding boards surrounding the site which made for a more private roam!.
Sadly to my horror the bulldozers had also arrived and had starting pulling it down, thankfully all that had gone was the gym and gym changing rooms.
I carried on looking around and found my way in through a smashed door glass panel in the front door.
Once inside it was all pretty much untoched with the exception of most the locker doors that had been pulled off and pilled up in 1 of the fitness studios.
Was a pretty decent explore and looked like it would have been a good place to go, hopefully once the new centre which is due to open in the summer of next year will be even better.
