So I went back to the Western Outworks recently so that I could make a film. As usual, the double caponier’s buried bellow the surface but the casemates still remain including the Haxo Casemates which are above the South Casemates which you can use the service tunnel inside to reach the North Casemates. The South is slowly suffering from more and more graffiti while the North Casemates are in fine condition apart from the decayed flooring on the upper floor, broken windows and the backfilled airshaft but is pretty much the same as usual.
Quick note; some may complain that I named this report the Western Outworks and not the N/S Casemates as the double caponier was filled in. But the Outworks were more than the double caponier that defended the West side of Dover Western Heights and the Casemates still count as being part of the Western Outworks.
