Report (Permission Visit) Catesby tunnel, Northamptonshire.

Stretching 2997 yards under the Northamptonshire countryside, I couldn't turn down a chance to peer into the black hole before it is developed into a wind tunnel for the motor industry. Was only allowed afew metres inside due to roosting bats but had a good look and was told about their plans to create one of if not the best wind tunnel in Europe. Afterwards we took a slight detour to go and locate Catesby viaduct. Anyway.... here's some pics.

I would have loved to see this one before it's sealed up. It's reasonably local as well but found out about it too late

The people running the project are looking to do tours through the tunnel before the roadway is laid. I'll dig out the companies info but they won't be for some time yet

No I can imagine. I did speak to an electrician working on the site but he said the tunnel would be sealed for quite some time.

Was very well sealed on our visit but the doors were unlocked so we could step inside and have a good look.

I use my Huawei pro as a camera. It takes better photos than my proper camera
