Another of the sites on our TTHL (tedious tourist hit list) from Majorca earlier on this month. I don't think we were quite expecting the scale of these buildings, which were absolutely massive. Situated in the flat wine and fruit growing bit of Majorca, this was an old communal co-operate winery.

The shuttered concrete buildings were constructed in the early 1920s based upon plans by the architect, Guillem Forteza. In its heyday, the wine making co-op counted more than 500 socios (members). Small holders would bring their grapes to the winery and they'd use the communal fermenting and bottling plant to produce their own volumes of wine - beats trampling them with your feet.

Very interesting, never heard of this place before. Seems like a decent place for a 'holiday' if you ask me.
