11:09am, "ariiite dude, you outside?"
I had woken the Xan.

We set off to the Central Hydraulic Tower based on intel () that Xan could now get up to the top, which was true. What a day we had! Spent a good few hours inside and got a lot of nice pictures (and even more blurry ones) of the tower, the warehouse area and the accumulators. This place was scary as shit from the start, but worth it all the same. As always, I made a fair few comments (perrrrrfect) which made me look a dick, but that's just me ;). As far as I know, Xan and I are joint seventh for climbing this dirty fucker (meaning he went up first :thumb) since it was re-opened. Woohoo!

THE HISTORY
According to some stone in the tower, this place was either built or opened in 1862 AD (don't forget the AD!) It was designed by Jesse Hartley as a way to operate the locks and bridges on the Birkenhead docks. Some time not long after the second world war, one of the accumulator pumps decided it wanted to fly, and took a large portion of the building with it. This was repaired in a rather crude way, meaning there is a very prominent "scar" where old stone meets engineering brick. "Functional" is the only way to accurately describe it.

THE STORY
Getting in was hard. Getting out was even harder. Xan had hardly any battery life in his camera, and I had no idea about mine as I hadn't charged it for a while but hadn't used it for a while either. We went straight for the tower and shot that first of all. We then made our way down. Wait - what's that on my trousers? Oh, pigeon leavings. Bollocks. Anyway, I was originally going to visit with ex0 which would've been great, but in hindsight I wouldn't've been able to do it. It was hard enough in the day! After a fair few pictures at the top, we then moved down and took photos on the way. Just after we got down to the bottom, Xan's camera showed the battery warning light. I took this time to get him to be my remote shutter actuator (photo bitch) and took some arty-farty pictures of myself. Not much else happened after that. A bus trolled me and Xan jumped over a small fence. Oh well, on with the pictures!
