Top start to the day this little bit of risk, bit of fun and a bit of stupidity. Access as has been mentioned in the past is still rather fun and most definitely sketchy in the amazing weather we had. It certainly helped though when some bloke was emptying his bins and thanks to the ice i managed to star fish flat on my face just in time to drop out of his line of vision.

We managed to find a way in after the usual ways recently being resealed. Had a quick wander around before getting the cameras out when "You are being watched. The authorities are aware of your presence blah blah blah" bellowed out of a speaker somewhere. After a few loops of this dribble an ear piercingly annoying alarm soon followed. So we buggered off to hide it out to see what the craic was.

After hanging around for a while up top in a pigeon infested fetid shit hole water tank we ventured back down on the now even more deadly rooftop back into the main pool area. Got our snaps and then triggered the blue box alarm bollocks you can see on the reception desk. Time to leave.

Whilst taking externals the police showed up after multiple complaints of two bell ends on the roof. (obviously not as quick as we thought we were) anyway he just asked if we had seen anybody which we hadn't lol so it was time to go and buy some scran and onto the next location.

History

Taken from an earlier report by @elhomer12

The Art Deco Chadderton Baths opened in 1937. Henry Taylor, the British Olympic freestyle swimming triple gold medallist and champion was an attendant at Chadderton Baths where many of his awards were once displayed. In 2002 a blue plaque was unveiled at the baths to commemorate his swimming achievements. I haven't seen or seen any pictures of this plaque though so maybe the local pikeys have stolen it. (it was there when me and bolts visited just forgot to take a pic)

Chadderton Baths were closed indefinitely in 2006 after a structural survey found faults with the roof which could have put the public at risk. The ajoining Chadderton Sports Centre stayed open later and was only closed in 2010 when the Chadderton Wellbeing Centre opened to replace it. An application to demolish the Baths was made in March 2011, following some other pikeys stealing copper pipes and making a mess with the asbestos insulation... a perfect excuse to knock it down. Despite this the Baths were sold to a local organisation for conservation. In 2014 the Baths were used for a one-off music event featuring Kwabs, some guy that I'd never heard of before, but there's a video on YT here.

Pics.

Moving on we had a poke around the boiler house but it was sealed, into the pump? Room and underneath and along side the pool.

You guys must have a death wish doing it in this weather :D Interesting to hear they've got some alarms now though, was nothing of the sort when we went, as EOA has probably told you, but I guess a lot can change in 4+ months

It’s worth doing for the access alone :D - nicely captured, chap :thumb

Excellent, nice to see more than just a pool shot. I always fail here, but I think I'm just not trying hard enough!
