Nestled between an array of mountains in the Alsace region of France lies "Chateau Lumiere"; the colloquial name given to a french maison by them there urbex folk. The designation was derived due to the divergence of daylight down its different decks, it's decorative decals and distinctive design. Fed from a large central skylight the building's ornate features are illuminated in a grand fashion throughout the day.
The building was constructed in a neo-baroque style by a wealthy Swiss tobacco tycoon in the 1900's. By the 1950's the owner had moved away and the building was utilised for business purposes.It is speculated that it was abandoned circa 1980. There are no grade listings in France unlike the UK but the house is a scheduled monument.. I'm not sure what that means in practice but the building has recently been targeted by vandals.
