Well after looking for some links to send on to someone asking about torches I recommend I came across this, higher wattage, slightly higher 'reported' lumen output and slightly cheaper, thought it was worth a punt for the price of a pint

cheap eBay torches follow up

Just a quick follow up to the thread on cheap eBay torches. I ordered this torch 5W 300LM Aluminum CREE LED Adjustable Zoom Lamp Light Zoomable Flashlight Torch | eBay on the 18th it arrived today (22nd) and I'm quite pleased with it. It's no P7 but It seems well made and at less than a fiver including postage seems to be great value.

^ I have one of the 1600 lm ones. Only thing is it kills Batteries.

Going to order a couple as I only paid £12 with 2 batteries charger etc, despite the batteries are gash!

I just tested mine, to be honest it seemed like a £5 torch, rather than a good torch.

Ill give it a miss then m,ate i have several good quality torches but like to carry spares no point if its gunna break or fuck up when im underground

when i got it it was £7.45 incl postage tho only problem is the lens keeps falling out luckily it falls into the body of the torch so wont get lost

Cant fault it apart really. Dropped it in a drain and it came out ok, the zoom sticks a little but alright for the money. Can be had for cheaper without the batteries, but the batteries that come with it are naff. Stick some duracell in it and it will last about 5 hours . . .

you prefer using AAA's in it then as opposed to the 18650's?

Yeah. Never really charged the 18650 as there unprotected, the charger looks like something I have wired and seen the horror stories haha!

Got some duracell yesterday (the power testing one) and after a day of exploring (probably 1.5 hours of torch use at a guess ) and there showing just over half full. They are expensive just need to get some good 18s and a good charger, or a p7!

In summary, these chinese things are a gamble in quality, price and output, Lensers aren't.

ive ogt 3 sets of 18650's granted the alleged 300mAh ones that came with my t6 probably arent what the say but a good set do work well,just got an extension tube off ebay so i can use two at a time
