I know there's already another thread with this place, but went there with Schlock a few days ago, so thought I'd post the details seperately, as it was a seperate visit.
For those of you who don't know, Cherry Knowle Asylum (or Sunderland Lunatic Asylum, as it was formerly known), was built in the 1800's, and now stands dormant, in a state of disrepair. Still mainly sound from a structural point of view, the main hazards are from asbestos and a ton of broken glass. The complex is HUGE, and has features such as a main hall with stage, kitchens, a hall for worship, swimming pool, a hairdressers, conservatories etc etc etc. I'm sure you could spend days exploring, but we did the crash course in a couple of hours. The place has a really strange feel to it - perhaps this is normal for abandoned asylums?! lol.
