Having visited a few rather uninspiring sites in mold, TheFlu24 and myself headed back to my place to regroup over a much needed cuppa and then on to Chester to see if we could spy anything to do which would redeem our earlier failures. Passing the station we noticed a scaffold, and parked up to take a closer look on foot. Within minutes we where up on the roof enjoying the views, despite being in worryingly close proximity to the transport police station.

Dating from 1848, the architect behind Chester station was one Francis Thompson who had a large role in the design of the first Menai straight bridge. I guess that should technically make him a bit of a local hero to anyone who has done some reading about that bridge. :p

The station is currently served by Northern rail, Mersey rail and Virgin trains and is managed and operated by Arriva trains.

Visited with (you guessed it) TheFlu24. On with some pics !

The architecture is cracking up here. TheFlu24 seemed to be more excited by the fact that it looked like a smiley face.
