One fine night back in August after missing a train home I spotted this big pile of derp on the way to the Marsden. Between us we hatched a plan to explore the whole site, I managed to get back to do this part but I was never able to get back up to finished the mission for various reasons, so Obs carried on and got the rest done. Maybe soon..
A lot of the buildings were built in the 1880s as part of the Metropolitan School for Girls, the stone for which lies carelessly broken in two and dumped round the back of the Chiltern Wing :/
The site as a whole has an interesting history, all online somewhere via a link I think in Obscurity's report, and elsewhere online if you have a good Google about.
Not sure how people nearby have missed this, it stuck out like a huge sore appendage of some kind. Shame the best bit with theatres etc has already been demolished. From what I could find online plans for the land range from a new school to the Marsden utilising the land to extend itself.
It has a bit of a history of patients absconding, but as they say it was never a secure unit.
