Chubbs Factories opened in 1950, originally operating as 'The Pyrene Company'. The Factories remained on the site, producing fire extinguishers, until 2004, when the factory was outsourced to China, at the loss of 154 jobs. The site has remained disused ever since but is a popular route used by kids to walk home from the nearby Ferndale Community School. There are plans to develop 172 homes on the site.
There are only two buildings left of the Chubbs factories. Both are, sadly, heavily vandalised.
