This one was my first tunnel as I never came across them before and it also told to never underestimate just quite how muddy, slippy and sinking the British countryside can be.

A Very Brief History

The tunnel was built in 1879 and closed in 1964 and is about 762 metres long. A few local rumours surfaced about a murder taking place there, yet there seems to be a lack of evidence to support this. The tunnel is lined throughout in red brick although short sections of masonry sidewall are apparent - presumably later repairs. Two of these face each other near the tunnel's centre, across an open catchpit. Another, inserted in the east wall close to the northern entrance, is badly spalled. Deep refuges are provided at both sides. Today the structure remains in generally good condition and is clutter-free except for a collection of chicken cages stored at the northern end.

Short 'n' sweet , thanks for looking ;)

Always nice to see some local stuff, good work
Those logs at the entrance have only been there a couple of years. Probably to stop motorbikes going in
