Clipstone Colliery Nottinghamshire, this has been my second visit here, the first time we didn't get to do the headstock so this took priority on this explore another on site for 5.30am start but with the fine weather this made it all well worth it the sun rise was fantastic at the the top. There were five of us at the top so it made shooting up there a bit of a challenge but i think we all came away happy with having done it, just need to do the other one now, visited oldskool hidden shadow kitty and bugsuperstar. Since the last visit more of the site has been trashed and pillaged..such a shame.
A LITTLE HISTORY
The headstocks are regarded as the tallest in Europe and the third tallest in the world they stand at in impressive 65m and are of gradeII listing the two head stocks and central winding house are all what remain of the colliery. The first shafts were sunk in 1922 and finally closed in april of 2003..
