Slate quarries seem to be cropping up a lot recently so here’s one from a while ago - not reported on here as far as I know, probably because there’s little to see other than holes and rocks.

This was apparently one of the first slate quarries in Wales with underground workings, and consists of a series of biggish slanted caverns ranged up the side of an escarpment.
Plenty more info on the web and here: https://coflein.gov.uk/en/site/415299/details/clogwyn-y-fuwch-slate-quarry

Looking up the slope with a little mill in the foreground.

It’s a very simple place to explore - just walk up the incline visiting levels 1 through 6 (but the adits to 2 and 6 don’t go anywhere).
In terms of taking pictures, the main difficulty, apart from the haze, is to capture the scale of the place without a person in shot somewhere - the small-cow-close-up-big-cow-far-away problem.
To compensate I’ve just made the pictures of larger spaces bigger (!).

Level one which has the remains of some huts near the entrance.

Into level 3 which ends in a chamber with an opening up to the next level, seemingly used for dumping waste from above - it’s probably about 30-40 m high.

Back out, past some more building remains and up to level 4 which consists of two huge spaces, worked out up to level 5.

Entrance to level 5 and a couple of views - one down the incline and the other northwards, with wind turbines off the North Wales coast just visible on the right.
