The former Coláiste Iosagáin in Baile Bhuirne (Balleyvourney) was constructed in the 1930's by the Irish state, during the 1960's the site was bought by the De La Salle order, eventually closing its doors in 1989.
The site has been up for sale with various developments proposed, most focusing on an educational purpose.
A new roof was completed in 2001 successfully protecting the majority of the building.
The site was used as a filming location for the 2003 movie "Song for a Raggy Boy"
Some of the original site has been redeveloped however the majority remains.
This nice spiral staircase was tucked away behind the theatre, leading up into the old projector room. Sadly the projectors are long gone.
Up in the dormitories there was some nice graffiti to find, each cubicle had its own bedside locker, most containing messages left behind.
Thanks for looking, Bug.
