So, rather than posting somthing in 'High Stuff' thought this would be better suited in here...

Early one sunday morning shortly after aem had bought a new rope we decided it needed testing so headed over to the Conisbrough Viaduct.

A hight of 113ft / 34m high, was built with 15 million bricks in 1906-7 to carry passenger trains across the Don Gorge until around 1951.
The good news is that since it was added as part of the TPT they've put some new (non-rusty) fencing in the middle, perfect to tie-off :D
(although there is bugger all around any of the arches to tie on to)

Found this a while ago on YouTube of some crazy fecker doing a bridge swing off it!
Definitely bigger balls than mine... :crazy

Anyhows, a few snaps, well worth doing if you're in the area :thumb

Looks even higher off the side than looking over! Good photos there. That area was known as the best view in Yorkshire before the coalmines took off. Did you have a waz off the side? Its a must, watch for boats underneath, mind. At one time there was a wooden walkway in the metalwork for inspection, but it fell off into the river. Also, the steel part of the bridge has moved in its time. As kids me n some friends found the locks cut off the inspection lid and some went down onto the ledge underneath. The old ladders had moved almost a foot at the top, and were almost sheared off the wall. This old geezer walkin his dog said he went down it in the mid 30s to do checks and they were bending the other way by a few inches. I wouldn't have thought a bridge section would move so far.

Cheers for the info, we did notice some timber in the middle section but it didn't look in a good condition as you can imagine.
Not so easy to pee off the side (as people have in the past while we've been abbing ) due to the number of dog walkers going over...

Almost forgot to post this for Ojay :D

My balls arent that big I'm afraid, although next time will give it a whirl, may opt for safety rope as I'm sure my gut will rip the spot-weld in no time!
hahahaha i was getting seriously impressed for a min :D
