We have previously tryed to get into the nearby slate mines but we couldn't locate the correct entrance (we now have the location). This trip we found a few of the many copper mine enterances. Only a short rope so couldn't get in to far. Next time we will bring more gear to access deeper into the Shaft at "end of the line".

There's plenty of mines in the Coniston Valley, majority of your photos (later ones) are from the Hospital Levels. Watch out for the false floors in them, often hard to tell if your stood on a solid floor or 150 year old decaying timber beams above a big drop. It is an amazing place to explore though :thumb

Amazing stuff. I walked up the old man at the beginning of July. Had a little swim in flooded Banishead quarry. I saw the water draining into a large opening, any idea if the quarry workings go underground ??
