Urbex or infiltration? You decide. Visited on 22/08/09 with my ever loyal partner in crime, my Dad! LOL
Met up with 2 other photographers whilst on the job, a really great hour to spend for railways. I know you'll love this Gridnutter!

Man I've got a lot of history with this place. I remember coming up here as a trainspotter (I'm now a photographer) so many times as a child when it was open. So many memories :)

Had previously been here this year (21/2/09 - archived set to be uploaded soon), but with one loco (37294, now running) moved to Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam railway into preservation, I decided to stop in as more stuff has moved in from the due to be demolished Old Oak Common Depot near Willesden as well as Ferrybridge depot. Mainly French class 56s and 60s (not photographed due to being locked in shed) have moved in really.

Has much changed? Well if I remember correctly, some operational locos have moved with stored locos coming in and lots more WEEDS! Other than that, not really.

Before I continue with the history, I'd like to say that both times access to the shed was strictly forbidden so it was impossible to get photos sadly, and I accidently missed 56074! Bollocks!

History from Wikipedia: Crewe Diesel Traction Maintenance Depot or Crewe Diesel TMD was a diesel-electric locomotive Traction Maintenance Depot situated to the south of and visible from Crewe railway station. The depot is owned by EWS. The depot code is CD. It is now closed and is used for storing surplus rolling stock.

Crewe Diesel has an extensive history of assessing, maintaining, repairing, storing and scrapping diesel-electric locomotives.

Just one more thing before the pics, I'll be adding an archived set to flickr soon, dated 21/2/09. And sorry I didn't take any pictures of the shed, fuelling bit and stuff like that but I was more interested in the locos at this moment in time!
