I haven't done any explores for what seems like an eternity for one reason or another. So when someone told me that this place had opened up again right on my doorstep I thought it would be rude not to pop and have a mooch.

I can't find much history about this place other than it used to be part of a larger site of maltings in the area, most of which were demolished in the late 60's but a few remained. A few years ago more were demolished including an old brewery site, but this one still stands. Half the site is inaccessable due to still being in use, and what is accessable is in a pretty sorry state. Woodern floors on the lower levels are not in the best condition in places, but the concrete floors higher up a solid enough. There were a few areas we saw through broken floor boards that looked interesting, but could't figure out how to them. And although there is a basement, this seemed a little illusive aswell.

If anyone else knows of any history of this place, please feel free to post.

Anyway, on with the shots.

Thanks guys. Its not the most interesting of places inside, but worth an hour or 2 if u have it spare. The lighting on the upper floors is pretty cool.

Well covered there mate, some really nice shots.

The lighting on the upper floors is pretty cool.

A common thing with maltings. Maybe because they're mostly aligned on a NE / SW axis?

If anyone else knows of any history of this place, please feel free to post.

There's not a lot.

The site of Crown Maltings, established in the late 19th century, which is suggested to be the first maltings at Burton upon Trent to be built and run by a specialist malting firm, R Peach and Co

More than one million square feet of brewery maltings were bulldozed in 1969 to make way for a new industrial estate. In total, 24 acres of land were cleared off Anglesey Road to make way for a £500,000 project which would become the Crown Industrial Estate.

Part of it appears to have been used by Burton Rubber Company since the late 60s.

There’s another report on it here from earlier this year.

Thanks for the info. Yes part of the building is still used by Burton Rubber although for storage only I think.

Very good. I've done a few maltings in Burton but I've never seen this one either.

Good work...
