Small culverts carrying the Cannop Brook under a disused railway deep in the Forest of Dean. Spotted by chance on a family walk. Consists of two separate small culverts, one about 50m long and the other about 200-250m long. Each was about 4ft high which made this an uncomfortable stoop. The water was initially 2-3 inches deep but rising to about 18 inches in the centre of each.

Difficult to give history on a culvert, but I assume built at the same time as the Severn and Wye Railway which would make these from the Victorian era. The railway itself closed in stages up to 1976 and has now been converted into a popular cycle trail through the forest.

This was our first drain/culvert experience and we didn't like the uncomfortableness. So big respect to those drainers out there. We went to nearby mine after this and that was much more fun.
