Cwm Coke is absolutely massive, it has been described as the urbex playground of South Wales. Visited on a beautiful sunny day which meant that we could spend hours exploring this beauty. A few hours were definitely not enough though as we didn't even manage to scratch the surface of this place so a revisit is most certainly in order.

Cwm Coke Works is a massive site just north of Beddau. It opened in 1958 as a site for processing the hundreds of thousand of tons of high quality, low sulphur coal per year which came from Cwm Colliery and turned into high-grade coke suitable for foundry use. By the 70's, Cwm coke was the workplace to some 1,500 men and produced on average 515,000 tons of coke per year.
The National Coal Board closed the colliery in 1986. For 16 years Cwm Coke continued to produce the low sulphur coke that the foundries of Port Talbot required, before finally closing in 2002.

Nice one. If you're ok with heights, there are some decent bits high up, and give a great view of the site (for if you visit again :) )

It's good to see this with such nice blue skies, as it was fooking miserable when we did it (surprise surprise)!!
