So since getting into the Urban Exploring scene towards the end of this summer, I have visited a fair number of places - Cwm Coke Works being one of my favourites. I know and have seen from previous reports it has been done a lot in the past but I thought I would put a report up none the less as I hadn't seen one too recently and also have some information to add for those who are interested :)
I haven't added the history of this grand place to the report as I know there is already a lot of history on this page about it and i don't want to bore those of you who do give this report a read..... onto the explore....

THE EXPLORE
Upon arriving i parked the car a few hundred meters away in a residential street and decided to walk up the road right next and parallel to the site itself. While walking up inconspicuously there were a number of other people walking along the road as well - dog walkers, people taking photographs, cyclists and general passers by, whom were all more than happy to talk to me about the area and the fact that the road/pavement (up until the second YELLOW gate) are a public right of way. I got up as far as the security building on the left, immediately before the yellow gate and taking a VERY quick recon of the area, scurried through the yellow gate and up the hill towards the back of the site. Access was easy enough, a few bushes, thorns and nettles to deal with but nothing you wouldn't expect to find! Once inside i was completely alone and left to explore the site at my own leisure for the couple of hours i had before I ran out of camera/phone battery (hence there not being a full set of photos to follow). The site was absolutely huge and definitely still worth a visit for those of you who are new or have not been there previously! All in all it was a really good few hours worth of exploring, and I had an interesting encounter with the security guard on the way out..... as I was passing the building he was perched in he came out and simply asked me had i been taking photos or been inside... obviously I was lovely and polite and told him id only been taking external shots from up on the hill and was now leaving due to running out of battery and the rain setting in! He was a really nice chap... even gave me a cigarette to stroll back to the car with as mine had got wet lol! The part I found interesting was the fact that on previous reports I have seen people mention the 'fluffy black Alsatian' - max? there is now a new dog there, a rather butch looking Rottweiler, who has glued to the fellas hip while we were speaking but seemed friendly enough!!

I hope this report, photos & info are of some interest and value! This is also my first report so any feedback whether positive or negative is much appreciated :)

I agree mate. I did a lot of research before deciding on where exactly to go to find a place like this, I thought this was about the best one especially with regards to where i travel from! The fact that it was a relatively straight forward explore and I was in complete peace the whole time was a total bonus!

Good first report, the first few pics you took of the workshop area was the last bit we visited on our way out and we had all packed up ready for a long drive back so never took any shots, was the old MG car still in there ?

Thanks mate, i appreciate it :) I found my access point down the workshop end of the site so managed to get some snaps before the battery died but I did miss a lot such as the old wooden cooling tower etc. unfortunately no MG in there any more :(
