Report - DAF UK HQ & Kingsmead Business Park - Oxfordshire - September 2021

A day out round Oxford area with @mookster checking out some local spots. This was the only real major success of the day, but one of the biggest industrial type sites I've done for a little while.


History

The Kingsmead Business Park was the home of DAF's UK HQ up until 2017, where it moved to a new site. The rest of the site consisted of different units occupied by the likes of Kubota and a few others. The site has plans to be turned into a Care home and Housing, which seem to have been approved last year. However nothing has happened and the site has slowly fallen into further disrepair.

The Explore

We didn't know what to expect here, a lot of office blocks and empty factories can be a bit boring, but this was actually fairly okay. The site is huge, with some massive empty warehouses. Some parts of the site were completely trashed, with cables, and ceilings pulled down. Other parts were left relatively intact considering. It's obvious it's been open for a little while and there's lots of smashed windows and graffiti.

Considering I've not done much proper exploring for a little while, it's nice to get out and see something big and industrial, even if it is just empty warehousing.

Yes just a pile of rubble which was gutting, luckily that was 1 of 3 places I had lined up.

About to work out where this was. Searching Oxfordshire on here for ideas. So missed it then, annoying. Was temped, even a drone if I could. if not in a no fly zone

Houses useful but not built as 1930's homes. Bet nothing last like it did. .

Got an old village school shut in 1981 in mind. Out the door way. There by 8 tomorrow see on here. Thought that will do.
