After dicking about elsewhere in the area the night before, we got some kip and then called in at Dalton Pumping Station for a nice relaxed explore before we headed home. The station features two Cornish beam engines..

Info:

Constructed in the 1870s, and closed in 1946, Dalton Pumping Station contanis two 72â€￾ single-acting non-rotative Cornish beam engines - which were powered by super-heated steam. They were designed to pump water from 450ft. below ground. The station was purchased in 1996 and the engines were refurbished.

The engines are undoubtedly the attraction in this place. Supported by huge solid metal beams, they’re pretty stunning.
