The home guard auxiliary units were formed in WW2 as a secret reistance group that would act in the event of a German invasion.

This operational base had 6 members, all chosen because of their local knowledge. The corregated metal roof was removed shortly after the end of the war but the entrance shaft (13ft deep), interior walls and escape tunnel (28ft long) still remain.
Very similar design to the one in Staplefield.
