Dolmans House is a very derelict mansion on the outskirts of Newbury in Shaw. It is situated 3 quarters of the way up Shaw Hill. It is a very nice building that was sadly abandoned due to a large fire that destroyed a lot of the furnishings. What is left is still VERY impressive! There is still a few impressive bathrooms, an ancient raeburn and a good few interesting rooms that still contain furniture.

I thou art ever in the area, this place is well worth a visit!

I can't seem to find the 'Post an image' thingy so I have no idea what to do. I have to add that I have a blog with various photographs and articles about various derelict places around Newbury such as Crookham Court School, Colthrop Paper Mill and other places like them. I don't know whether to post the link to my blog here or not...

Create a Photobucket account and upload into there. Then browse your uploaded photos in Photobucket and select copy IMG for each pic..it's on the right side of the Photobucket screen under share this photo... then paste the IMG into here.

One thing when you say "ancient raeburn"..do you mean a painting by the Scottish painter Henry Raeburn..or am I being thick now?

I drive up and down the M4 several times a week. PM me if willing to meet up and guide me around.

Hi Bertie. Ok thanks for the advice! I can do a Saturday afternoon to show you around if you want? That basically the only time I'm free.
