Opened in May 1962, Dover was closed in October 1968. Located on former MOD land within the Swingate Chain Home radar site, this particular post has spent most of its time sealed, with brief periods of being accessible.

As recently as December 2007, the post still had bunks etc. (see Ali23's report http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=24185&highlight=dover) and during the last 18/24 months the hatch has been welded shut.

Unfortunately, at some point recently the knuckledraggers have been at it - the section of the hatch with the hasp has been smashed away and the welds broken on the lid itself. When I walked the site yesterday afternoon the hatch was jammed open - initial attempts to shut it proved difficult, and required some help from Herbivore later on that evening.

The post has now bee stripped, the only items now on site are the chemical toilet and batteries, all other items having been removed. The inside is dry and clean, if a little 'ripe' due to the dead rabbits rotting away inside:gay. Would probably make a good basis for a restoration if you're that way inclined.

The hatch has now been closed up again, but there is no way of securing it which doesn't bode well for the future.
