many of you guys may know of this tunnel.
me and two others last week ventured to this spot but didn't know what to expect or where it was. we managed to find it in the end and didn't realize we would need some powerful torches to light the place up. we went into the biggest tunnel after going through the first smaller tunnel a massive hill and a quarry then stumbled upon the 2116 yards tunnel.
for you who don't know the train line that is now gone used to run from hull to barnsley yet the railway never reached Barnsley, only getting to Stairfoot two miles short of the town.
The railway carried substantial quantities of New Zealand and Australian wool between the Hull docks and West Yorkshire woollen mills.

this was the smallest tunnel we got to first.

we walked through this tunnel to be met by a huge slippery hill that we climbed.

this was near the top of the hill looking back at the first tunnel.

we then walked trough the quarry and headed in the direction of the ventilation shafts we could see up on the hill.

we then found this under a load of debris as you can see.

we climbed down to it and realized it was pitch black inside we had a walk into it but couldn't see much, we tried taking some pix on long exposure and it came out black so without some kind of light it wasn't wort it.
