Founded in 1922 near East Fortune Airfield on the east coast of Scotland, the hospital served as tuberculosis sanatorium until the WW2. During the war it served Royal Air Force pilots and was re-opened to the public in late 1940's. In 1956 the East Fortune Hospital was yet again transformed to a mental institution and it served this purpose until the final closure in 1997.
