Well today Outkast, Stevec047 and myself headed off to East Tilbury Battery to finish off exploring the place after Outkasts initial post. BIG thankyou to him for showing us around and providing us with the knowledge of the place. Would have been a nightmare otherwise, PLUS he is the first to post and document the site - thumbs up!

Here is some info on the forts in the area and what this battery was used for;

Luckily we were blessed with good weather and headed down the muddy slopes into the site. It was overgrown like anything, Outkast now has rips in his jeans, my back is all cut up and Steve, well was the only one unscathed :D

The place is in amazingly good condition inside and there were many little treasures to be found... Strangest part was standing on the side of a gun turret suddenly hearing the eery noise of an air raid going off in Tilbury, couldnt have been more apt! But found out these are tested on a regular basis in case of floods

Pictures to follow courtesy of Steve...

This is one of the smaller Ammo lifts (and Outkast), which sent the cartridges up to one of the small gun turrents, which would of been for Anti Aircraft guns.
