Took a while to figure out exactly which bit of wood this was in having seen mention of it on other sites, then a couple of hours traipsing round in the rain to locate it; well worth the effort.
Norwich has many chalk mines running underneath it and the remains of many quarries tucked away in it's woods. This site at Eaton also has a mine, which I have yet to locate, but this kiln is a bit of industrial treasure, used to cook chalk to turn it into quicklime which was then used as a mortar in many of the cities old buildings.

A bat brick has been embedded above one of the grates, no bats in residence on this visit. Some lovely large slugs on the ceiling though.

Hey buddy, where abouts is this? I've got one bit of wood surrounded by houses to check but apart from that, every resource I've had leads to different places.
