The History
Not Much history on this place but here’s what I know
Edith Borthwick School caters for youngsters with learning disabilities aged three to 19. It was built in 1976 and can take up to 160 pupils, aged 3-19 with severe and complex learning difficulties. It closed in September 2015 and the school relocated to the other side of town into a new purpose built school enabling the school to take on more pupils and have much better facilities.
The Explore
I knew this had shut but had forgotten about it until I happened to be over that side of town and it reappeared on my radar. So while out with @UrbanDuck , @slayaaaa and @Urban Diaries we decided to give this one a look. Mostly heavily boarded up but after wandering around the whole site we found and made a way in. It was pretty nice inside all apart from one corridor that had been totally wrecked. It seems a real shame for such a decent building that could be used as a community centre to be left doing nothing.
