Report - Ellington Girls School Air Raid Shelters - Ramsgate - 12/5/2010

Well, this was a bonus, having a phone call from a relative while eating dinner telling me workmen had dug these up today whilst digging foundations for the new buildings that are under construction on the former school site ()

I don't have any history on these tunnels due to the fact i dont think their existence is recorded anywhere, the school had even been explored before!

These are absolutely mint and all graffiti down there dates 1944.

If anyone wishes to add history on the school/shelter then feel free!

You then round a corner and are greeted by:

Interesting large shaft, one of two.

As the shelters are having archeologists sent down there tomorrow (13th) i decided to leave them another little present aswell as our footprints in the otherwise perfect dust

Thats all, if you are intending a visit, do it in the next day or two, they are being filled!

was a good little place to have a look round, couldnt believe how untouched it was.

Went back there tonight and grabbed a few pics myself this time.

They've poured a lot of concrete since yesterday, this shelters days are numbered.

There's two air shafts, both capped

It's a small but perfectally formed shelter.
