With a rare bit of sun rearing its head it was time to take advantage and head back to a location I came across many years by mistake when checking out another nearby Battery. Very similar to elements of Wanstone Battery, but unfortunately in a much more sorry state. Unlike Wanstone, Farthingloe has clearly had no volunteer team looking after and restoring it. Still, it was good to head back here to take a few shots. Surrounding area has some ok pillboxes too, but nothing exciting.
Bit of History:
Constructed early in the second World War west of Citadel Battery, it comprised four gun positions (3.7 heavy AA guns) with associated magazines, a control room, shell stores and other buildings. The RADAR site and accommodation blocks have been demolished. If anything was ever constructed underground, nothing survives.
